Christ is also the head of the church, which is the body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. (Ephesians 1:22, Ephesians 5:23, Colossians 2:10)

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. (1 Thessalonians 2:13, 2 Peter 1:20-21)

So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
