Story Time with Pastor Lyndsay: For God So Loved the World
HMC Family Challenge: Feeling Stressed?
Inspired by the story of the two men walking on the road to Emmaus, Pastor Lyndsay offers some great suggestions for dealing with stress and heaviness.
HMC Family Challenge: How Can We Apply the Story of Mary Anointing Jesus?
โHis Love”
Last week we heard how Mary showed that she loved Jesus by anointing Jesus with very expensive perfume. She sacrificed, and loved generously because the love of Jesus changed her life.
One way that you can show others that you love Jesus and that His love has changed your life is by how you love others.
For this challenge, how can you show love that is generous and sacrificial to someone that you know needs it? How can you make someone feel loved because Jesus loves you? Maybe it is colouring a picture for a Senior who is stuck at home. Maybe it is giving a Tim Hortons gift card to your neighbour as a way of saying thanks for being such a good neighbour. Maybe it is calling someone on the phone to tell them you are thinking of them. Maybe it is dropping off some fresh baking to someone who needs encouragement.
Whatever it is, as you show generous and sacrificial love to others, you are showing that same love for Jesus as you do it.

HMC Family Challenge: Putting the Lessons from The Woman at the Well into Practice
Pastor Lyndsay brings some suggestions for ways to put the lessons of Jesus into practical action.
HMC Family Challege: Be a Good Neighbour
Last week Pastor Lyndsay shared the story of The Good Samaritan while also challenging us to reach out to someone who remembers some of the old ways of doing things. Overhead projectors, black boards, etc. Show of hands for those of us who remember black and white televisions – with all her talk of retro tech, we thought we’d toss her into an old TV this week as she lays out a new challenge!
(Catch up on last week’s story here: https://www.hanovermissionary.com/…/story-time-with…/)
She asked us to discuss why the story is in the Bible and which character we related to. This week she’s asking us to put being a good neighbour into practice. There are so many ways to practice being a good neighbour. Share some of your thoughts in the comments and consider taking pictures of putting what you’ve learned into action. Be sure to tag it #HMCFamilyChallenge so we can see it!
#HMCFamily Challenge – Fish Dinner
Last week, we talked about how Jesus came to four brothers (Simon, Andrew, James, and John) as they were fishing, and invited them drop everything they were doing and leave everything behind to come and follow Him instead. [Watch/hear the story here if you missed it.]
Your challenge is to enjoy a fish dinner together with your household – be as creative as you like with the type of fish and the recipes you use. As you gather around the table, talk about what it means to be a fisher of men. Talk about the words of Jesus when He said to Andrew, Simon, James & John โyou will fish for peopleโ. How can you fish for people? How can you share with people His life, and invite them to follow too?Snap a picture of your meal and share it with #HMCFamilyChallenge so we can see all the delicious options.
